The Asset (entry level, staff, senior or principal depending on experience) Engineer, based in Liberal, Kansas, plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the National Helium Gas Processing Plant. This position involves providing technical support, performing troubleshooting and failure analysis, and developing recommendations to enhance equipment performance. Additionally, the Asset Engineer collaborates with key stakeholders to develop the facility's long-range capital plan by working closely with various departments, including Operations, EHS, Reliability, and Commercial, to find solutions to complex problems.
Responsibilities May Include:
- Monitors plant performance: Oversees the performance of the plant, compressors, and control systems, proposing changes to reduce processing upsets, improve reliability, enhance efficiencies, increase production, and reduce costs.
- Technical support: Provides technical support for troubleshooting system process problems and operational issues, working with personnel at all levels, including operators, mechanics, electrical support, supervisors, managers, and environmental professionals.
- Project development: Develops and defines project concepts, scopes, technical requirements, specifications, and preliminary costs to ensure compliance with engineering principles, standards, statutes, codes, regulations, and design.
- Helps coordinate with stakeholders to plan project execution and resolve related technical problems.
- Business improvements: Anticipates business or regulatory challenges and recommends improvements to processes, products, or services.
- Evaluation and construction: Supports and may lead technical and economic evaluations, performance testing, and the design and construction of new facilities or equipment, or upgrades to existing ones, while ensuring safety and environmental risk management objectives are met.
- Process Safety Management (PSM): Provides technical support for the plant's Process Safety Management and develops recommendations to reduce process safety risks.
- Process simulations: Builds and maintains various process simulations for the plant to optimize operations.
- Engineering standards: Reviews and ensures the application of engineering standards and procedures, providing advice to ensure that quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness, and performance standards are met.
- Incident investigations: Participates in incident investigations, various meetings, and training sessions, and provides commercial support.
- Compliance and records: Assists in maintaining project records and ensures compliance with government regulations and contracts.
- Additional duties: Performs other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in job posting country
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering
- Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships
- Willing and able to perform and comply with the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Travel to field and training locations
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environments including inclement weather
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- Lift and transport articles weighing up to 50 pounds
- Occasionally climb ladders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- Previous engineering experience in the gas processing industry
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Basic proficiency in process simulation software packages
- Working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations
- Working knowledge of PSM including MOC, PHA, Pre-Start-up Safety Review, and Root Cause Analysis
- Proven leadership skills and ability to influence at a local level and across a broad organization
Midstream
The Phillips 66 Midstream business is a safe, reliable, and trusted provider for the movement, storage, gathering, and processing of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 70,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities. Our capabilities include extensive natural gas gathering and processing operations, enhancing our wellhead-to-market strategy. We also provide the connectivity between the various Phillips 66 business units.
