Position Summary
We have a fantastic opportunity to join the T-Hub team as a Senior Transport Capacity Specialist.
The York head office is the base of Nestle’s first European Transport Hub, T-Hub North. The T-Hub has responsibility for planning and executing Nestlé’s cross border road and intermodal transportation within Europe, doing so with a focus on optimising efficiency, cost, service and sustainability. We manage this across Nestlé‘s European network of factories and distribution centres, as well as from inbound raw and packaging materials from our major suppliers where opportunities arise.
A day in the life of a Senior Transport Capacity Specialist
You will perform a variety of roles working closely with the Capacity Specialist team, co-ordinating workload and acting as first point of escalation and support. You will have regular interaction with the business categories and markets whom we provide service to whilst also being outward facing, working with our carrier partners to optimise their performance and ensure they deliver for Nestle. As a member of the Extended Leadership Team, you will play a key role in our operational reviews whilst supporting and leading improvement initiatives across a broad number of areas to help deliver against our Operational Master Plan.
Key responsibilities will include: -
- Being operational first point of contact for haulier and market enquiries relating to scope of work
- Working with procurement, operations and markets to support onboarding of new carriers and flows
- Helping us achieve our sustainability targets through knowledge of and maximising usage of procured sustainable transport solutions.
- Acting as part of the Extended Leadership Team providing input into the wider strategy and taking ownership for driving key initiatives within area of responsibility
- Analysing carrier performance, root causing and working to resolve
- Identifying where gaps in capacity exist due to variable business demand and work with carriers and procurement as well internal dedicated fleet to find solutions
- Perform cost analysis to understand where to focus improvement efforts as well as defining strategy for where to operationally leverage the sources of capacity available to us (contracted, spot or other)
- Leading carrier performance reviews focusing on improving key service measures
What will make you successful
You’ll have Logistics experience ideally within European or domestic transport and an understanding of Supply Chain end to end processes. You’ll be an analytical thinker, able to explore KPIs and reports to drive efficiency. Your continuous improvement mind-set and problem-solving approach will be key to success in this role.
You’ll have effective communication and influencing skills along with the ability to manage stakeholders enabling you to maintain healthy working relationships with Third Party Contractors.
